...the stephen king novel? any reason why it's not spelled "cemetery"?

Yeah, there is. I read it a long time ago, so I can't remember for sure, but I think it had something to do with a child misspelling cemetary.





Edit: just remembered: a child spelled it that way in the pet cemetary in the main character's backyard (right next to the Indian Burial ground)

It's childishly misspelled... after all, the titular cemetery is a place for children to bury their dead pets.
