Is the Necronomicon dangerous to read?

I need serious answers, I've read that it is dangerous and i've read that it is just a joke, I've heard that "it is often harmful to the health and sanity of its readers." Im not a satanist and im not religous, I just find it interesting and want to read it, but don't want to risk my life over a damn book.

If you have ever read it or have heard anything about it PLEASE tell me
Is the Necronomicon dangerous to read?
When you look past the superstition and the religious paranoia, you'll realize that it is just a book--no different than Dr. Seuss or Stephen King.
Is the Necronomicon dangerous to read?
Any book could be taken dangerously. It depends on the mindset you have when you read it. Books are to be taken seriously, but not to the point that they're all-consuming.
Reply:Just make sure your copy isn't bound in human flesh or written in blood. That's what gives it it's power.

Also, don't read any of the incantations out loud.

I opened a portal to a medieval alternate dimension last summer. Talk about a pain the @$$.... Had to battle witches and an Army of the Dead...

God, what a nightmare....
Reply:Idk, but you must read Twilight!!!!1 The best b00ks evurrrrr!!!!!

Reading any author does tie into that author's consciousness. Immersing in such an outlook is not really wise.

Would suggest as wise alternative, "Paths of Light and Darkness" and "The Path of Christ or Antichrist," Mark Prophet,

"Testimony of Light," Helen Greaves, and

"Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton.
Reply:No, but it is hardly worth bothering with.

Reply:if you have to ask this then you are religious and or satanist believer (not necessarily follower)

necronomicon was a book invented by horror novelist hp lovecraft as an element to cthullu supposedly by arab mad man/sorcer abdul alhazred (which is not even arab correct spelled or grammatically), it can be shocking i suppose but not to the point of going abdul on your a$$, just a good night fright! i wanna read it to!
Reply:it is only dangerous if you try the stuff it suggest you do.

for example: light yourself on fire inside a pentagram with the nine gates seal to look into the first gate of hell.

if you catch yourself on fire inside a pentagram with the nine seals you'll die.
Reply:The Necronomicon is a fictional book appearing in the stories by horror novelist H. P. Lovecraft. It was first mentioned in Lovecraft's 1924 short story "The Hound", written in 1922, though its purported author, the "Mad Arab" Abdul Alhazred, had been quoted a year earlier in Lovecraft's "The Nameless City".[1] Among other things, the work contains an account of the Old Ones, their history, and the means for summoning them.
Reply:Sorry to spoil you, but unless you have plans to travel to Arkham, Massachusetts anytime soon, and you could finagle the librarians at Arkham U. to let you look at their copy (which they keep in the vault), you won't find a copy. Anywhere.

I'm not even sure if Arkham U.'s copy is in translation to English.

Sorry.
