Notes from Underground by Dostoyevsky
Reply:The Bartimaeus Trilogy and the Abhorsen Series. Awesome sets.

And I loved the book Beastly by Alex Flinn. It had a great message; retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Great book. I'll never forget it.

-i saw it on my teacher's desk, read the back, ran to the library and got it. read it and luved it! like...adored it! it has advanced language, (i don't mean explicit, i mean confusing) but you get the picture, so i wouldn't worry much about it. it's an amazing story, and oh gosh so worth reading! please try it, you'll luv it 4ever!

Reply:I don't know how old you are or if you've read this book yet, but I'd definitely suggest To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It's an amazing classic.

As far as other books go, I'd suggest:

-- Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini

-- A Thousand Splendid Suns, Khaled Hosseini

-- The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd

-- The Mermaid Chair, Sue Monk Kidd

-- basically anything by Nicholas Sparks, especially The Choice or A Bend in the Road
Reply:Harry Potter series

anything by Diana Wynne Jones, but especially Howl's Moving Castle, Hexwood, and the Chrestomanci series (start with Charmed Life)

Mara, Daughter of the Nile

the Enchanted Forest Chronicles and Sorcery and Cecelia by Patricia C Wrede

Artemis Fowl

The Perilous Gard

The Sherwood Ring

Percy Jackson series
Reply:I'm just going to throw one out that immediately comes to mind, so that we don't all get overwhelmed.

"No No Boy" by John Okada. I remember, at the time that I read it, writing in my "books read" notebook that this staggering novel should be required reading for all American high school students.
