Looking to write a comparative essay on two novels, or a novel & movie.. Any ideas?

I'm going to be writing an essay on comparing two novels, or a film and a novel.

I'm looking for ideas please on texts (film %26amp; novels) that I could compare? I would like to compare a film and novel, and am stuck for ideas, as I don't read much, and am not real clued in to be honest,

I just recently finished reading "The Other Boleyn Girl" which is now a major motion picture. I hear that the movie is quite different than the book, or rather that the movie is severely lacking the attention to detail that the book has. Another good one is "The Princess Bride". Both a book and a novel. You could also compare the many "fairy tale" movies to fairy tales or fables. Good luck!
Reply:What about Romeo %26amp; Juliet. You could compare the play and a movie - or two movies. I can think of three movies about Romeo %26amp; Julie - the first one, made by Zefferelli, West Side Story and the Baz Luhrmann one with Claire Danes %26amp; Leonardo Di Caprio, which is the best, such a great movie.
Reply:Well you have a few options:

You can compare a book that was made into a movie and compare and contrast the differences betwen the two.

If I did this I would choose:

To Kill A Mockingbird or the Crucible

You could compare two books, in fact I had to write an essay about this as well. I compared A Raisin in the Sun to Death of a Salesman.
Reply:I remember I once compared 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 for an essay. It has many interesting themes, but I don't really know what sort of themes/ideas you're looking to compare.
Reply:Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt

Jumper by Steven Gould
Reply:A novel is the sole work of the author. A movie is the collective work of hundred's of people from the director, the cinematographer ,and all the others who take part in producing a visual version of the author's story.
