Post-apocalyptic books?
Check out "Dies the Fire," by S.M. Stirling. There's no nuclear war or zombies but it's defiantly post apocalyptic.
Post-apocalyptic books?

Reply:Alas, Babylon

Lucifer's Hammer

Malevil

Farnham's Freehold

I love end-of-the-world stories.
Reply:I would recommend (dont have the authors right at hand):

World War Z

Lucifer's Hammer

Althought not quite what you are looking for I also recommend 1632 by Eric Flint (alternate history, but close to what you are looking for).

Also, Dies the Fire is amazing as well as the complete series
Reply:One of the earliest American post-apocolyptic novels was Caesar's Column by Ignatius Donnelly. Maybe you would count Jack London's The Iron Heel from about the same time period.

Margaret Atwood wrote two. Oryx and Crake and The Handmaid's Tale.
